Westhoughton U10's 0 - Thatto Heath Crusaders 30
This was our first game back after not playing for 12 weeks, so the players were all rearing to go again. Westhoughton were a few players short so Frankie and Connor played for the first half for them. Mike and George played the second half for them, so a special thanks goes to those players for playing for Westhoughton.
Thatto Heath start the game and with a clever kick from Kyle who found touch which resulted in Crusaders getting head and feed at the scrum. This was a great opportunity for us, but you could tell the team had not played for a while because we did a Knock on from this.
Once the team got into their stride the was no stopping them. The first try came from Adam Jackson who did an excellent drive and offloaded to our supporting player Reece who went into the corner to score our first try. Westhoughton tried their best to keep us out, but we just kept attacking their try line until we got another try. This time it was from some good work from Kyle who passed the ball out wide to George who ran at least 30 metres to score his first try for the club after only playing his second game for us. There was some good work today from Alex and the forwards who were laying the platform for the backs to get involved. As it showed today with Reece and George out wide in the centre positions who both got trys.
The first half was a bit scrappy but once we got our heads on it, we started to control the game.
Half Time Westhoughton 0 Thatto Heath 12
Westhoughton started the second half off and kicked the ball to Connor who picked the ball up and ran the ball straight back at them. With Josh now at stand off he received the ball and drop it off to the TANK (Luke Robinson) who went on a 50 metre sprint to the try line. He said he's never run that fast before, while he was trying to get his breath back. This was the start of us getting more trys. Josh got a couple of trys today. One of them was from a scrum were he ran across the pitch to score in the corner. The other try was from some good foot work to get the other try. Jordan got on the score sheet with some fancy footwork to get passed Westhoughton to get his try. The only coversion today came from Adam Jackson
Paddy was in good form today with some good tackling and passing from the ruck. Ben and Mike showed some excellent running and tackling today. Robbie was strong in the tackling today as usual.
