8's take the cake

Thatto Heath Crusaders u8's 8 - 7 Chorley Panthers

On a sunny, but chilly Mothers Day I get told as the lads are kicking off Nathan is captain so I'm doing the match report too!

We lose the toss but defend the first set really well.

Nathan, Joseph W, Ben and Karl do some great runs then Karl crosses the line, 1-0. Again we defend well and keep Chorley back. Ryan, Michael, Charlie, Kameron and Callum take the runs but are kept out. Next set for Chorley see them knocked into touch. Nathan does a good run then Joseph W makes a fantastic run but is tackled just short of the line and looses the ball.

Chorley see their first try of the match 1-1.

Ryan, Ben, Kameron make good yards then Charlie is set to make Zoes day by scoring, 2-1.

Our next with Callum, Michael, Nathan, Joseph then Karl saw him score again, 3-1. Chorley come right back though making it 3-2.

Charlie leads the run followed by Michael then Nathan gives me his present and scores, 4-2. Last set and Chorley make it over the line too, 4-3.

 

Second half and some fresh legs. Mark, Charlie and Thomas make their runs down the pitch, Connors run and over for a try, 5-3. Chorley come back again, it's going to be close! 5-4.

Joseph, Matthew, Michael, Charlie do their bit, Mark's run and he goes over the line but drops the ball :-(

Chorley knock on, Nathan knocks on then Chorley score 5-5.

Charlie takes the ball from the kick off and flies down the left hand side and over the line 6-5. Chorley come back again 6-6.

Nathan, Lewis, Thomas, Connor, Callum lead up then Mark puts the ball down, try time 7-6.

More great defending means Chorley are kept away from the line. Matthew, Ben and Connor make the yards then Karl finishes over the line, 8-6.

Chorley lead up the field and score 8-7.

Runs by Ryan, Matthew, Ben and Nathan finish the game.
